Donations: How You Can Help

Rupanyup Men’s Shed. Inc is a strong supporter of the men’s shed movement as actions that will improve the health status of men.

A key strength is the autonomous development of our men’s shed in running many community programs without being part of formal agencies and that that also provides alternative flexibility and is adaptable to local needs.

The initiative requires resources to succeed and we feel that reliance of the wholesale support from government grants will result in a loss in independence and flexibility so as a result of this different approach, alternative sources of support are needed.

Those resources can come from the development of sponsors for activities within the different venues themselves, and from men’s shed supporters such as interest aligned businesses, health services, carers and partners etc.

The Rupanyup Men’s Shed’s mission is to work with and to source resources from all sources whether private individuals, corporate, non- government organsiations, and from government itself for some programs however, we need to work on a sustainable mix of these.

Rupanyup Men’s Shed Inc is a Not-For-Profit Incorporated Association that has recognition as a Registered Health Charity status to facilitate that role.

Rupanyup Men’s Shed Inc currently does not rely on the support of funds provided by the Commonwealth or State Government and has simply been developed as a group so far without these government agencies.

Some of the health programs that operate through the shed simply rely on community volunteer support and some will have local government and health services agency support and we have engaged with these organisations already.

Rupanyup Men’s Shed Inc. would like to engage with any organisation or person who shares our views, aims and goals.

That discussion will focus on developing arrangements that work for the benefit of the contributor and for men’s health and wellbeing and may mean linking contributors with particular shed programs where a range of contributions could be made.

The Rupanyup Men’s Shed Inc receives inquiries that include offers or donations of tools, equipment and financial resources to support activities and programs and we have procedures to handle those offers effectively so that the resources get to the groups we have so that they can make good use of them.
